Poseur is a publication spotlighting underground subcultures, identities, and issues with the LGBTQ+ community to give a platform to unheard voices. This specific issue and article discuss the history and colonization of ballroom culture and voguing over time and where the culture is today.
The name "Poseur" references the idea of being in the closet, or leading a double life to participate within these LGBTQ+ subcultures. The masthead seen below is handwritten to contradict the root meaning of the name and show individuality and personality beyond the use of a typeface.
Each spread contains texture both from handwritten elements and the use of overlaid text to create more interest in the images. The text used in this issue is inspired by common vernacular used in the ballroom scene as well as ball categories.
